Sangria de Cava

Certainly the first sunny and hot weather days invite you to be outside, gather with your friends and enjoy the aperitivos and vermut times. Choose a bar with a nice terrace and there you go!

If you are lucky enough to have your own terrace, you can make the apperitivo anytime! we did this weekend, as it was really hot in Barcelona and we prepared sangria! But not the spanish sangria with red wine. This time it was with cava (softer, because red wine with hot weather can be really dangerous!)

And, as usual, we made our way since the original recipe is with rum (and we don't like rum). I'm sure you are going to love it, especially because I'm going to give you a sub-recipe in this one ;)

Ingredients

  • 2,5 dl of cava
  • 1,5 dl of Martini bianco
  • 55 gr of apple
  • 55 gr of orange
  • 20 gr of sugar (optional, depending on how brave you are!!)

Elaboration

Get the apple, peel it and cut into pieces. Now grab the orange. Do not peel it, thoroughly washed cut it into pieces.

Introduce the fruit into the jar.
Now add the cava and the Martini bianco (white one). Martini gives you the sweet touch to the beverage and here is where you have to decide whether you add sugar or not. We personally do as we love sweet drinks and we are not a very strong-alcohol people. Sugar will frame the strong taste of the alcohol ;) Mix it all together and put in the fridge for at least 5 hours before serving.

Trick: if you have both beverages and the fruit already cold, you can instantly drink it BUT, you are not going to have the second hidden recipe: sangria food.

As you are keeping your sangria in the fridge with the fruit inside, apples & oranges are being soaked with the liquid. It gives you great sweet fresh fruit to eat before or after drinking the sangria.

I'm telling you: it's delicious! Enjoy Spanish Kitchenetters!!
